WIM GRIFFITH - Metal and More

Wim Griffith works in a variety of artistic mediums, including sculpture, painting, and murals. His professional background is as a scenic artist for television and film, and his work has been widely exhibited in galleries throughout his native Southern California and the rest of the US. He has also executed prestigious commissions, including several bronze busts for the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. The works in this gallery are made of 12 gauge steel with flat black finish, and a base for standing. The pieces have a baked-on enamel finish which makes them suitable for use indoors or out. "My steel sculptures are torch-cut sheet steel that are actually cutout shadow pieces, inspired by Chinese brush painting. They are the ultimate in chiaroscuro." These sculptures represent the archetypes or stereotypes of gay male culture. The three dimensional qualities that are imparted to these two dimensional works are a tribute to Wim's skill, imagination, and great talent.
